3. Verify Your Email Address
Once you’ve registered your account, a verification code will be sent to the email address you provided. Check your inbox (and the spam folder, just in case) for this code. Enter the code into the application portal to verify your email address. This step is crucial for activating your account.

Next, you’ll need to capture your academic results. Depending on your current educational status, you will either enter your Grade 12 marks (for matriculants), your National Senior Certificate (NSC) results, or any previous qualifications you have completed. You will also be asked to add subjects that you’ve completed during your schooling years, ensuring you list them accurately and as they appear on your certificate.
7. Provide Details of Educational Institutions Attended
You’ll also need to provide the names and details of all educational institutions you have attended. This is an important part of your application as it helps WSU verify your qualifications and academic background.
8. Select Your Courses of Study
As part of your application, you’ll be asked to choose two courses that you wish to apply for at WSU. Make sure to research and carefully select your courses. It’s important to choose courses that align with your interests and career goals. If you are unsure, it might be helpful to discuss your options with a guidance counselor or academic advisor.
9. Upload the Required Documents
Once you've completed all the necessary sections of the application, you will be asked to upload the required documents.
10. Review and Submit Your Application
Before finalizing your application, take a moment to review all the details you’ve entered. Ensure that everything is correct and complete. After reviewing, submit your application.
You will receive an acknowledgment email confirming that your application has been successfully submitted. Keep this email for reference.
11. Track Your Application Status

Important Notes:
By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your application to Walter Sisulu University for 2026 is completed smoothly.
The Admission Point Score (APS) is used by Walter Sisulu University (WSU) to determine whether a student is eligible for admission to a specific course. It is based on your National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Senior Certificate (Old Matric) marks.
Your APS is calculated by converting the percentage marks in your best six subjects (or seven subjects if applying for a course in the Faculty of Education) into points. These points are then summed to give your total APS.
WSU uses the following table to convert your percentage marks into APS points:
NSC/Old Matric % | APS Score (NSC) | APS Score (Old Matric) |
---|---|---|
90 - 100 | 8 | 8 |
80 - 89 | 7 | 7 |
70 - 79 | 6 | 6 |
60 - 69 | 5 | 5 |
50 - 59 | 4 | 4 |
40 - 49 | 3 | 3 |
30 - 39 | 2 | 2 |
0 - 30 | 1 | 1 |
WSU uses three categories to calculate your total APS:
Category 1:
Category 2:
Category 3:
Student 1 & 3 (Non-Education Courses):
Student 1:
Student 3:
Student 2 (Education Courses):
Student 2:
