The University of Limpopo (UL) has officially opened late applications for the 2025 academic year. Prospective students who missed the initial application deadline now have an opportunity to apply between January 17 and January 28, 2025. While standard applications have already closed, a limited number of courses with available spaces are still accepting applications.

 

UL Opens 2025 Late Applications - What You Need to Know

Prospective students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as late applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and spaces fill up quickly.

The University of Limpopo has officially opened late applications for 2025 across several key courses in the Science, Agriculture, and Commerce fields. Here are all the courses currently accepting late applications:

Faculty of Agricultural:

  • Bachelor of Agricultural Management
  • BSc in Agriculture in Agricultural Economics
  • BSc in Agriculture in Plant Production
  • BSc in Agriculture in Animal Production
  • BSc in Agriculture in Soil Science
  • BSc in Environmental and Resource Studies
  • BSc in Water and Sanitation Sciences

Faculty of Science:

  • BSc in Mathematical Sciences
  • BSc in Mathematical Sciences (Extended course)
  • BSc in Life Sciences
  • BSc in Life Sciences (Extended course)

How to Apply Online for new applicants

Step 1: Visit https://ulc-prod-webserver.ul.ac.za/pls/prodi41/gen.gw1pkg.gw1view to apply online. Accept the application rules and click "Continue"

Step 2: Capture your biographical information and click "next" to proceed with your application

Step 3: Capture results details then add subjects and click "next"

Step 4: Capture educational institution details and click "next"

Step 5: Capture academic application details (choose 2 choices/courses you wish to apply for), click on "add qualification" and thereafter click "next"

Step 6: Verify/Check your application details then click "Continue"

Step 7: Create your 5-digit PIN (e.g 24689), click the "I accept"(twice) checkbox thereafter click "Submit Application"

Step 8: Upload your documents, select "yes" on the dropdown list if all your documents are ready to be uploaded, and then click "next"

Step 9: Click "Load/View Document" >> "Upload document" >> "Choose/Browse file" Go to the folder where your documents are stored, choose the relevant document, and click "Save"

Step 10: Once all documents have been uploaded click "complete upload"

How to Apply Online if You Already Have a Student Number

Step 1: Log in to the I-Enabler system: https://ulc-prod-webserver.ul.ac.za/pls/prodi41/w99pkg.mi_login
Step 2: Navigate to the "Academic Application" section.
Step 3: Review the application rules and click Accept.
Step 4: Proceed to "School Attended."
Step 5: Select your school name and click Save.
Step 6: Enter your school-leaving subjects (indicate if upgrading by selecting Yes or No).
Step 7: Go to the "Disabilities" section, select None or the appropriate option, and click Save.
Step 8: Submit your application:

  • Enter your preferred qualification under "Academic Preference."
  • Save and continue.

 

How to Upload or View Documents if You Already Have a Student Number

Step 1: Visit https://ulc-prod-webserver.ul.ac.za/pls/prodi41/w99pkg.mi_login
Step 2: On the Student I-Enabler portal, go to "Academic Application."
Step 3: Click Certificate Seen.
Step 4: Choose the type of document you wish to upload.
Step 5: Click Load/View Document.
Step 6: After uploading your document, ensure you click Save to finalize.

1. National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Bachelor Exemption

Prospective students with an NSC seeking admission to undergraduate programs must meet the following requirements:

  • Life Orientation: Achieve a minimum level of 3.
  • English Language: As the language of learning and teaching, achieve a minimum level of 3.
  • Subject Requirements:
    • Four 20-credit subjects with a minimum NSC achievement level of 4 for degree purposes.
    • Four 20-credit subjects with a minimum NSC achievement level of 3 for diploma programs.
  • Admission Point Score (APS): Meet the minimum APS specified in the faculty calendars. Note that meeting the APS requirement does not guarantee admission.

2. Matriculation Certificate (Pre-2008)

Applicants with a Senior Certificate obtained before 2008 can apply using their Grade 12 results, provided they hold full university exemption. Grade symbols will be converted to APS for evaluation.

3. National Certificate (Vocational) (NCV)

Students with an NCV Level 4 qualification can apply and must meet the following:

  • For degree programs:
    • NCV Level 4 certificate with three fundamental subjects (including Life Orientation) and four vocational subjects, each with a minimum of 70%.
  • For diploma programs:
    • NCV Level 4 certificate with three fundamental subjects (including Life Orientation) and three vocational subjects, each with a minimum of 50%.
  • Applicants are subject to faculty admission specifications and placement tests.

4. Admission Point Score (APS) System

The APS is calculated using NSC or Grade 12 results to determine eligibility for admission to:

  • The University of Limpopo, and
  • Specific programs offered by the faculties.
    Meeting the minimum APS does not guarantee admission.

5. Qualifications Other Than the NSC

  • Verification of qualifications is required from Universities in South Africa (USAf). More information is available at www.usaf.ac.za.
  • Applicants with matriculation qualifications from outside South Africa should contact the International Office at +27 (0) 15 268 3046.

6. Extended Curriculum Programmes (ECP)

  • These programs are linked to regular undergraduate degrees but provide an additional year to achieve the required learning outcomes.

7. Selection Tests

Some programs require selection tests in addition to meeting admission requirements, including:

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
  • Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching (BEd: FP)
  • Optometry
  • Prime Teaching
  • Bachelor of Psychology (BPsych)
    Additional requirements apply for Education, Psychology, Social Work, and Medicine programs.

8. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

  • Applications through RPL are accepted. Prospective applicants should inquire directly via [email protected].

UL 2025 Late Applications International Student Admission Guide 2025

Basic Requirements

International applicants must:

  • Qualify for Matriculation Exemption from South African Matriculation Board
  • Meet University of Limpopo's language requirements
  • Meet minimum Faculty entry requirements
  • Study in English (medium of instruction)

Minimum Academic Requirements

  • Matriculation Exemption OR
  • O and A level examinations completion
  • Note: If you only have O Level/IGCSE, complete first year at home university before applying

Study Permit Requirements

First-time applicants need to submit:

  1. Application Documents
    • Department of Home Affairs form (BI-1738)
    • Valid passport (valid for at least 30 days after proposed stay ends)
    • Application fee (non-refundable)
    • Official UL acceptance letter
  2. Medical Documents
    • Medical and radiological reports (less than 3 months old)
    • Valid vaccination certificate if relevant
  3. Financial Documents
    • Proof of sufficient funds for:
      • Tuition fees
      • Maintenance costs
      • Incidental costs
    • Proof of medical insurance (registered in South Africa)
  4. Additional Requirements
    • Police clearance certificate (less than 6 months old)
    • Marriage certificate if relevant
    • Proof of accommodation arrangements
