If you're planning to study at a university or college in South Africa, you might need to apply through the Central Applications Office (CAO). The CAO is a one-stop service that allows you to apply to multiple institutions with one application form and fee. It also helps you find courses that match your interests and qualifications.
But how do you submit your CAO online application? Well, it's not as hard as it sounds. Here are the steps you need to follow:
1. Go to the CAO website (Apply (cao.ac.za)) and click on "Apply".
2. Register as a new user by filling in your personal details, email address and password. You will receive a confirmation email with your CAO number and login details.
3. Log in to your account using your CAO number and password. You will see a dashboard with different tabs such as "My Application", "Make a Payment", "Change of Mind" and so on.
4. Click on "My Application" and start filling in your application form. You will need to provide information such as your personal details, education history, course choices, supporting documents and declarations.
5. Review your application form carefully before submitting it. You can save it as a draft and come back later if you need more time or want to make changes.
6. Once you're happy with your application form, click on "Submit". You will receive an email confirmation with a summary of your application details.
7. Pay the application fee of R250 online using a credit card or debit card, or offline at any EasyPay outlet such as Shoprite, Checkers, PicknPay etc. You will need to present your CAO number and ID number when paying offline.
8. Check your application status regularly by logging in to your account and clicking on "My Application". You will see if your application has been processed, if any documents are missing or if any offers have been made by the institutions you applied to.
That's it! You've successfully submitted your CAO online application! Now all you have to do is wait for the responses from the institutions you applied to and accept the offer that suits you best.
