UMFOLOZI TVET COLLEGE offers a variety of programmes and qualifications that cater for different levels of learnership and career aspirations. These include:
- National Certificates (NATED) & Diplomas (N4-N6): These are formal qualifications that are registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 5-6. They consist of theoretical and practical components that prepare students for specific occupations or further studies at higher education institutions. The college offers NATED programmes in fields such as business studies, engineering studies, hospitality services, tourism management, information technology, public management, human resource management, financial management, educare, legal secretary and management assistant.
- National Certificate (Vocational) (NCV): This is a new qualification that was introduced by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in 2007 to replace the old N1-N3 technical courses. It is also registered on the NQF level 2-4. It consists of three fundamental subjects (language, mathematics/literacy and life orientation) and four vocational subjects that are related to specific fields or industries. The college offers NCV programmes in fields such as civil engineering & building construction,
electrical infrastructure construction, engineering & related design, finance economics & accounting, hospitality, information technology & computer science, management, marketing and office administration.
- Skills Programmes: These are short courses that are designed to provide learners with specific skills or competencies that are required by employers or industries. They are usually offered at skills centres or community venues where there is a demand for such training. The college offers skills programmes in areas such as agriculture, automotive repair & maintenance, beauty therapy & hairdressing, bricklaying & plastering carpentry & joinery clothing production computer literacy electrical installation plumbing welding and many more.
- Unisa Qualifications: These are distance learning qualifications that are offered by Unisa in collaboration with TVET colleges. They allow students who have completed their N6 or equivalent qualification to enrol for selected degree or diploma programmes at Unisa without having to write an entrance exam. The college offers Unisa qualifications in fields such as accounting sciences, business management & administration communication science & languages economic & management sciences education & training development practices law & criminal justice public administration & management.
- Artisan Training & Trade Tests: These are programmes that prepare students for becoming qualified artisans or tradesmen/women in various occupations. They involve both theoretical and practical training at accredited workshops or workplaces where students learn under the supervision of experienced mentors or instructors. Students who complete their artisan training can apply for trade tests at recognised trade test centres.
